Morocco Produces 2.5 Billion Litres of Milk: Minister

Meknès 20/04/2017 (MAP) – Morocco’s milk production increased from 1.25 billion litres in 2007 to 2.5 billion currently, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Aziz Akhannouch, said here on Thursday.

“This performance is due to investments in the sector, the dynamics of the professionals and the support of the State,” he explained at a round table held on the sidelines of the 12th Morocco’s International Agriculture Fair (SIAM2017).

Under the Government’s ‘Green Morocco’ plan, Morocco aims to increase farm productivity and improve technological transfer to smallholder units in order to increase its national milk production.

Spanned over an area of 172,000 m2, SIAM2017 is expected to attract this year more than one million visitors.

The 2017 edition brings together 1,230 exhibitors from 66 countries and opted for Italy as its guest of honor.

Launched in the spring of 2006, SIAM has positioned itself over the years as a showcase for the sector of agriculture as well as a business platform for operators all over the world.
