Minister Stresses Importance of Energy Efficiency Improvement

Rabat – Minister of Energy, Mining and Sustainable Development, Aziz Rabbah, stressed, on Tuesday in Rabat, the importance of energy efficiency improvement, said the Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE).

Rabbah, who chaired the meeting of the 3rd board of directors of AMEE, pointed out that public institutions “should set an example” in energy efficiency improvement, the Agency reported in a statement.

On this occasion, he highlighted the significance of energy efficiency in the Moroccan economy through the reduction of the country’s energy bill, adding that industry, construction and agriculture are the sectors that consume the most electricity.

For his part, AMEE director general, Said Mouline, presented the Agency’s management report for the first half of 2019, the accounts for the 2018 financial year, as well as the AMEE new organizational chart.

Quoted in the statement, Mouline recalled the “promising” international context for energy efficiency, adding that the latter is in harmony with the royal vision that establishes energy efficiency as a national priority.

“This vision has enabled the implementation of energy efficiency actions that aim to have a tangible impact on economic, social and environmental development in Morocco,” he said.

Mouline also cited the ambitious programs initiated by the Agency, namely the implementation of the decree on mandatory energy audit and the code of energy efficiency in the building industry.
