Rate of Access to Drinking Water to Reach 96.5% in Rural Areas by End-2017 (Minister)

Rabat – The rate of access to drinking water in rural areas is expected to reach 96.5 pc by the end of 2017, thanks to the volume of investment, which exceeds 1 billion dirhams each year, said, Tuesday in Rabat, secretary of state in charge of Water, Charafat Afilal.

Responding to an oral question at the House of Advisors (upper house), Afilal stressed that all measures have been taken to alleviate the disruption of water supply through the implementation of drinking water projects from dams and the installation of regional drainage canals.

These measures also include the mobilization of water resources, notably surface waters, the deepening of wells used to increase their flows and the organization of awareness campaigns to save water, with the aim to end the deficit before the summer of 2019.
