Summit of Conscience, Crucial Step to Share Sustainable Development Values (Moratinos)

Fez, 03/11/2016 (MAP) – The Summit of Conscience is a crucial step to share the values of sustainable development among different nations, said, on Thursday in Fez, former Spanish Foreign minister, Miguel Angel Moratinos.

Speaking at the inaugural session of this Summit, initiated under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Moratinos highlighted the actions and initiatives that encourage dialogue among cultures, the safeguarding of heritage and the protection of the environment.

Countries around the world should give utmost importance to promoting the values of openness to strengthen the neighbourhood policy and to imparting education to the less privileged population, he said.

Moratinos noted that the whole world is committed to global goals set out in the Paris Agreement and the means to achieve them.

For his part, Argentinian minister of Environment a Sustainable Development Sergio Bergman said that the Summit of Conscience should give priority to religion and lead a constructive action that promotes peace and openness.

He also called for the setting up of a universal human rights policy which takes into account the promotion of dialogue among religions and the protection of the environment.
