Electricity Output Down 4.5% by End of October

Rabat – The production of electricity at the national level fell by 4.5% by the end of October, following a 7.4% decline by the end of June, said the Direction of studies and financial forecasts (DEPF) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This figure is the result of a 14.8% decrease in electricity production of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and a 1.8% drop in private production, the DEPF said in its December 2020 economic note.

As for electricity importations, they increased by 38.6% by the end of October 2020, against a 76.6% increase by the end of June and an 87% drop one year earlier.

Electricity consumption fell by 2.8% in the first ten months of 2020 after a 4.9% decline by the end of June, the note concluded.
