Harvey and Irma Hurricanes: No Moroccans Among Victims (Embassy)
Washington – There are no Moroccans among the victims of hurricanes Harvey and Irma that have devastated parts of Texas and Florida, said on Monday a statement by the embassy of Morocco in Washington.
The same source added that the storm affected several Moroccan families, causing significant material damage. It requested them to comply with the security directives established by the competent local authorities and contact monitoring units of consular services.
The embassy, which is in permanent contact with local representatives of the Moroccan community, expresses “its support and full solidarity with the victims and is planning to send a commission to inquire into the situation of our nationals,” the statement noted.
It added that a mobile consulate will also be set up as soon as possible in order to provide close support and help people who have lost their necessary documents.
