United Nations – HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairperson of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, met, Monday in New York, with executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Patricia Espinoza.

This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2019 Climate Action Summit at UN Headquarters, during which HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa read a Royal Message addressed to this global forum.

In a statement to the press at the end of the meeting, Espinoza said she was “honored” to have had the opportunity to meet HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa “with whom I have worked personally since COP 22 in Marrakech”.

On this occasion, Espinoza commended the launch by HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, on Monday in New York, of the African Youth Climate Hub, a major initiative aimed to mobilize the voices of young people from the South in the fight against climate change.

Also, Espinoza expressed her “gratitude for Morocco’s continued efforts in the fight against the effects of climate change”, saying she was “particularly pleased with Morocco’s concern for Africa”.

“Morocco has always been very active in the climate change process and this has been the case for many years,” noted the UNFCCC executive secretary.

The meeting was attended by minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and secretary general of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, Nouzha Alaoui.
