Morocco Making Headway on Path of Renewable Energy, El Pais

Madrid, 15/11/2016 (MAP) – Morocco is making headway on the path of renewable energy as shows the Ouarzazate Noor Solar Plant mega project, wrote on Tuesday Spanish daily “El Pais”.

In an article shedding light on this major project on the occasion of the 22nd Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), which is being held in Marrakesh, the Spanish daily noted that this solar plant, whose first phase was inaugurated last February, symbolizes efforts made by Morocco to enter the world of renewable energy.

The Kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, wants to bring renewable energy contribution to electricity production up to 52% by 2030, against 34% currently, it added.

According to Irene Garcia, analyst at the World Future Council foundation, quoted by El Pais, Morocco is showing its neighbors that renewable technology is productive and competitive.

El Pais also highlighted the technical characteristics of NOOR project which will produce 580MW upon completion.
