COP 22 to Carry Forward Momentum Triggered by Paris Agreement (French Foreign Ministry)
Paris 29/09/2016 (MAP) – The 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties (COP22) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, scheduled in November in Marrakech, will carry forward the momentum triggered by the Paris agreement to fight the effects of climate change, French Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Romain Nadal, said here on Wednesday.
The Moroccan presidency of the COP will tackle the problem of climate changes, he told reporters on the sidelines of a meeting held in Paris on the COP 22.
Nadal also praised the momentum the Moroccan presidency has earned, saying this dynamic was reflected in the number of countries ratifying the Paris agreement, the funding commitments both from the public and private sectors and the launch of several projects related to the fight against the effects of climate changes.
“We need to carry forward this momentum,” he stressed, noting that, in this regard, Morocco plays a key role through its expertise and leadership.
The spokesman also hailed cooperation between Morocco and France in the fight against climate change.
