COP22, Suitable Platform for Implementation of Paris Agreement (International Expert)
New York, 03/11/2016 (MAP) – The COP22, scheduled for next week in Marrakech, is a suitable platform to undertake necessary actions for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, which enters into force this Friday, said U.S expert in the fight against climate change, Mike Korchinsky.
The COP22 is a platform from which “we are expecting actions on key issues of a road map for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, as well as a real support for these actions,” Korchinsky told MAP.
Marrakech’s global event is also meant to provide more financial support for developing countries to contribute to the achievement of their plans, notably with regard to forest conservation, Korchinsky said.
The U.S expert also said he was convinced that Morocco is ready to play a key role in finding solutions of adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
“Morocco, as a country that has throughout its history, developed clever solutions to difficult climate conditions, can absolutely play a role major in finding new solutions of adaptation to climate change,” he said.
