Morocco Launches ‘International Award for Climate and Environment’ (COP22 President)

Marrakech, 17/11/2016 (MAP) – HM King Mohammed VI has established the “International Award for Climate and Environment” of one million dollars annually, announced on Thursday in Marrakech president of COP22, Salaheddine Mezouar.

The Prize, which is meant to “reward a particularly innovative action with high-impact of change, will be awarded during the holding of each COP,” Mezouar said at a high-level event of COP22 themed “Accelerating Climate Action”.

The announcement was made in the presence of a host of leading international figures, including UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, and President of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Hilda Heine.
