CGEM Takes Part in COP23 in Bonn

Casablanca, 13/11/2017 (MAP) – President of the Moroccan Employers’ Association (CGEM) Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun will lead, on Wednesday, a strong private sector delegation to participate, in Bonn, in the 23rd Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP23).

Chaqroun will hold several working meetings notably with the UNFCCC Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa and Fiji’s Climate Champion Inia Seruirato, as well as other top officials from international institutions, a CGEM release said.

CGEM will organize, on Tuesday at the Moroccan Pavilion in the Bonn Zone, the 3rd edition of the High Level Business Summit, a major event aiming to confirm the international private sector’s commitment to the fight against climate change, through the implementation of the Paris Agreement.

On this occasion, the Fiji Statement will be signed by international business leaders, the same source underlined, noting that this signature follows the 2015 Paris Declaration, and the 2016 Marrakech Declaration.

CGEM launched, during the COP22, a global network dubbed “the Marrakech Business Action for Climate ” (MBA4Climate) that brings together around 50 businesses.
