COP22: Senegalese President Arrives in Marrakech

Marrakech 14/11/2016 (MAP) – Senegalese President, Macky Sall, arrived on Monday in Marrakech to take part in the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-22).

Upon arrival at the Marrakech-Menara international airport, Senegalese President was welcomed by minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Aziz Akhannouch, Senegalese ministers of agriculture and environment and Senegal’s ambassador to Morocco.

President Sall reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard, before been greeted by members of Senegal’s embassy in Morocco.

Some 70 heads of state and government will take part in the COP 22.

The COP 22 is an opportunity to debate and discuss several issues relating in particular to agriculture, food security, energy, industry, transport and water.

The event is taking place in Bab Ighli village, which extends over an area of nearly 300,000 m2.

Around 20,000 delegates from 196 countries are gathering at the COP 22.
