Morocco, Burkina Faso Ink Cooperation Agreement to Develop Renewable Energy

Rabat – Morocco and Burkina Faso recently inked in Rabat a partnership framework agreement to develop renewable energy projects in both countries, said a statement by the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN).

Signed by head of MASEN Mustapha Bakkoury and Burkina Faso’s energy minister Bachir Ismaël Ouedraogo, this agreement seeks to foster bilateral cooperation via information, expertize and know-how sharing, said the source.

It will be also a platform for the two parties to boost renewable energy penetration in energy mix.

On this occasion, Bakkoury said that “in MASEN, we strongly believe that sharing expertize and know-how with our southern and northern neighbours is crucial for renewable energy technological and economic development to turn it into competitive and accessible technologies.”

Burkina Faso’s energy minister paid an official visit to Morocco on June 7-9 and met with several Moroccan officials involved in the energy sector.
