Morocco Has Appreciable Amounts of Water (Seminar)

Taza, 03/11/2016 (MAP) – Morocco has appreciable amounts of water, which required the establishment of new tools of management, as well as the upgrading of the legislative and regulatory arsenal, a group of experts said on Wednesday in the central city of Taza.

Speaking at a seminar under the theme “Water Resources in Morocco and Development”, several participants in this meeting noted that the hydrologic context in Morocco is irregular and marked by rainfall variability as well as the heterogeneity of its distribution.

Morocco is endeavoring in partnership with numerous international entities to make of water a key factor for development, despite the constraints bound to the scarcity of water resources, they added.

They also underlined that rich countries suffer from the inflation of prices, while the supplies of water are less expensive in developing countries.

Initiated prior to the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change, slated for November 07-18 in Marrakech, this two-day seminar tackles several issues on “water resources management”, “water and future challenges”, and “water conservation”.
