Morocco, Spain Support Scientific Research in Energy Sector (Minister)

Rabat – The projects selected under the energy innovation program (INNO-ESPAMAROC ENERGY) demonstrate the interest of Morocco and Spain in scientific research, said, Tuesday in Rabat, minister of Energy, Mining and Environment, Aziz Rabbah.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the financing agreements for the first edition of the “INNO ESPAMAROC ENERGY” call for projects, Rabbah stressed that this initiative illustrates the scale of strategic cooperation between Morocco and Spain and between Africa and Europe, in various fields of action such as energy, innovation, technology and scientific research, praising in this regard the contribution of the Moroccan elite which has enabled this program to become a reality.

“The dynamic that the two Kingdoms are experiencing makes it possible to set up innovative cooperation joint ventures,” the minister noted, stressing the “dazzling” evolution of energy technology, hence the importance of setting up “pragmatic” research.

Rabbah also stressed the importance of the Moroccan research platform, highlighting the remarkable development that Morocco has undergone in recent years in several fields of action.

For his part, director of the Institute for Research in Solar Energy and New Energies (IRESEN), Badr Ikken, noted that the aim of this second call for projects is to finance applied research and innovation projects.

This call for projects, worth 43.5 million dirhams, involves several universities, research centers, social-economic partners and Moroccan and Spanish companies, Ikken said.
