Official Underlines Morocco’s Environment Protection Experience

Rabat – State secretary for sustainable development Nezha El Ouafi highlighted, Monday in Rabat, the experience of Morocco in the field of environment protection and sustainable development.

At the university cultural and environmental week of the education sciences faculty, El Ouafi stressed Morocco’s interest in biodiversity and climate change through the constitutionalisation of the right to live in a healthy environment and the right to sustainable development, as well as the adoption of the national charter on environment and sustainable development.

These measures helped include the environmental and sustainable development aspects in national public policies as basic reference, she said.

Morocco, known for its dynamism in the fight against climate change and the negative effects of natural phenomena such as drought and floods, has adopted several practical solutions to preserve its biodiversity and reduce the impact of these climate changes, said El Ouafi.

In this regard, she recalled the implementation of the Agreement on Biological Diversity and the establishment of the National Committee for Biodiversity as a coordinating and consultative body for the various ministries and institutions involved.
