HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Guest of Honor of 9th WEEC in Vancouver

Rabat – HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, is the guest of honour of the 9th World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC 2017), which will run till Sept. 15 in Vancouver under the theme “Culturenvironment: Weaving new connections”.

On this occasion, Her Royal Highness gave, on Saturday at the Vancouver convention centre, a speech on the occasion of the opening of the 9th WEEC, which is held every two years to discuss the role of education in sustainable development worldwide, said a statement by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection.

In her speech, HRH recalled the active and unwavering commitment to the environment by Morocco, host country of COP22, and its support for most vulnerable countries to climate change as Africa and small island states.

She also explained that the nationwide strategy on sustainable development by 2030 will provide Morocco with a key tool for developing public policies and transitioning to a green, solidarity-based and inclusive economy, it said.

Since 2001, the Foundation has been undertaking leading programs as clean beaches, clean air and historical gardens revamp which contribute to promoting sustainable development education and spreading the culture of environment, especially for young people, it added.
