FMVI.RSA Celebrates on May 10 First Argane International Day

Rabat – The Mohammed VI Foundation for Argane Research and Preservation will celebrate on May 10 the first Argane International Day with an “event” in the format of webinars due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic.

A press release issued on Wednesday by the foundation, created in Essaouira on May 9, 2004, said that national and international experts will attend this event which will touch on a multi-sectoral analysis of the Argane ecosystem.

The same source added that the foundation’s progress report (May 9, 2004 – May 9, 2021) will be presented, introducing three discussion themes (panels). The first panel will be about the “Development of Argane trees: A solidarity-based and resilience model of female Argane farmers.”

The second panel will focus on the “Role of international agreements and national strategies in the preservation of the Argane ecosystem,” whereas the third will tackle the theme “from Scientific research to commercial production: Creation, protection and value distribution in the Argane field,” according to the source.

On March 3, the United Nations proclaimed May 10 as the International Argane day, recognizing the environmental, social and economic role of our endemic national resource,” it recalled.
