COP22: Elalamy Calls for Setting Up Green Industrial Ecosystem

Marrakesh, 11/11/2016 (MAP) – Minister of Industry, Trade, Investment and Digital Economy Moulay Hafid Elalamy called, on Friday in Marrakesh, to set up a green industrial ecosystem connected to the 43 existing ecosystems.

Speaking at the opening of an “Industry Day”, organized on the sidelines of COP 22 under the theme “Industrial ecosystems for green growth”, Elalamy also recommended the setting up of a fund in support of startups and innovation in the world of green energy.

The ministry will continue to be strongly involved with the various economic operators to help with fighting climate change, Elalamy said.

In order to achieve this objective, he went on, the interests of the State, of the continent and of humanity must be in line with the interests of individuals, of enterprises and of industry.

Until very recently, it was impossible to think about a green economy at the industrial level, given that this sector is the third polluter in the world and consumes 22% of energy, Elalamy said.

The minister seized this occasion to highlight the presence of companies which are both competitive and environment-friendly as Renault-Nissan and Siemens.
