COP22: UNSG Arrives in Marrakesh

Marrakesh, 14/11/2016 (MAP) – UNSG Ban Ki-moon arrived, on Monday in Marrakesh, to take part in the 22nd Conference of Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), which is being held on Nov. 7-18 in the same city.

At his arrival at the Marrakesh-Menara airport, Ban Ki-moon was greeted by minister delegate for foreign affairs Nasser Bourita and Morocco’s permanent representative to the UN, ambassador Omar Hilale, and reviewed afterwards a detachment of the royal guard who paid the honors.

The COP22’s high-level segment will bring together over 70 heads of states and government to step up the implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate, which was enforced on November 4, and accelerate pre-2020 action to reduce climate change impact.
