HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa Meets with UNESCO DG in New York
United Nations – HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairperson of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, met, Monday in New York, with UNESCO director-general, Audrey Azoulay.
This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 2019 Climate Action Summit at UN Headquarters, during which HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa read a Royal Message addressed to this global forum.
In a statement to the press at the end of the meeting, Azoulay praised the Mohammed VI Foundation’s commitment “which started more than 20 years ago, in a pioneering way, to work on environmental issues that are at the heart of United Nations concerns”.
UNESCO and Morocco are working together on environment, climate and sustainability issues, said UNESCO’s DG, noting that her discussions with HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa focused on “the place of the environment in education”.
“How to better integrate the issue of nature and the environment into school curricula, I believe this is the way forward,” she said at the end of the meeting, which was attended by minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, and secretary general of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, Nouzha Alaoui.
