Morocco’s Energy Progress Showcased in Vienna

Rabat, 16/05/2017 (MAP) – Energy, mining and sustainable development minister Aziz Rebbah took part in the 5th edition of the Vienna Energy Forum (VEF), held in Vienna on May 11-12, where he presented the latest evolutions in the Moroccan energy sector.

The minister attended the ministerial session which brought together ministers from around the world to share their national experiences of elaborating strategies meant for the implementation of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the Paris agreement on energy, a statement by the ministry said.

During the forum, themed “sustainable energy for the implementation of SDGs and the Paris Agreement”, Rebbah met mainly with director general of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Li Yong on reinforcing technical cooperation between Morocco and the UNIDO for the development of a new “Program for Country Partnership” (PCP), it added.

The official also met with Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano and discussed the agency’s possible support for Morocco in order to develop joint projects in the sectors of health, agriculture and water.

He also held talks mainly with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohamed.
