Climate Action Summit: HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa Launches African Youth Climate Hub

New York (United Nations) – HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa, Chairwoman of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, announced, on the occasion of the Climate Action Summit which opened Monday in New York, the launch of the African Youth Climate Hub.

The African Youth Climate Hub is an initiative of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection which aims to showcase leadership and innovation, and to underscore the positive role of African youth in fighting climate change.

In her capacity as a committed world leader, Her Royal Highness, who read out the message sent by HM King Mohammed VI to the Climate Action Summit, has put the youth at the centre of the activities of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environment Protection, while focusing on education for sustainable development.

During her participation at the Climate Action Summit, HRH Princess Lalla Hasnaa took part at the various panels held at this global event.

The African Youth Climate Hub is an initiative to respond to and amplify the voices and action of Youth, starting with African Youth.

This initiative is a formal partnership between the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, the YOUNGO (Children and Youth Constituency to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change), OCP Group and the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University.

The African Youth Climate Hub will be based at the Hassan II International Environmental Training Center in Rabat.

An annual meeting of the Hub will be held at the Center and will enable young African people to share their knowledge and exchange best practices.

The Climate Action Summit brings together governments, the private sector, civil society, local authorities and other international organizations to develop ambitious solutions in six areas: a global transition to renewable energy; sustainable and resilient infrastructures and cities; sustainable agriculture and management of forests and oceans; resilience and adaptation to climate impacts; and alignment of public and private finance with a net zero economy.
