Argentina Lauds HM the King’s Leadership in Promoting Sustainable Development

Marrakesh, 18/11/2016 (MAP) – Argentinian Environment Minister, Sergio Bergman, praised the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI in promoting sustainable development and his efforts in bringing together different cultures and religions.

Speaking to MAP on the sidelines of his participation in the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22), which will wrap up this Friday in Marrakech, the Argentinian Minister hailed HM the King’s support for the environmental issues both in Morocco and at the regional and international levels.

“HM the King is a leader, who effectively contributes to promoting dialogue between different cultures and religions,” added Bergman.

According to him, HM the King “is a reference not only in terms of the environment but also concerning issues related to the objectives of sustainable development established by the United Nations within the framework of the Millennium Goals for the year 2030.”

The Minister also noted that the COP22 in Marrakech is “a clear illustration of Morocco’s leading position among countries working to combat climate change”.

Argentina and Morocco can work together to exchange expertise and best practices and to strengthen cultures based on diversity that respects unity, he said, describing as “admirable” the achievements made by Morocco in the field of renewable energy.
