Green Government: AMEE Participates in Inaugural Meeting of US-Canada Initiative

Washington – The Moroccan Agency for Energy Efficiency (AMEE) participated in the inaugural meeting of the Greening Government Initiative (GGI), co-organized by the US and Canada.

The forum, attended by 55 countries from Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, served as an opportunity to outline the new strategy and urge governments to make their operations more environmentally friendly to address climate change, the White House said in a statement following the meeting earlier this week.

On this occasion, the director general of AMEE, Said Mouline, presented the government’s greening program in Morocco, stressing the importance of a proactive policy for sustainable and resilient government operations, the statement said.

Mouline also highlighted the important role of an agency dedicated to this purpose, while sharing lessons learned on the financing of these actions, the same source added.

Launched by the U.S. and Canadian governments in April 2021, the Greening Government Initiative enables countries to exchange information, promote innovation, and share best practices to green government operations and help meet Paris Agreement commitments.
