Agriculture & Fisheries Minister Discusses with EU Official Prospects for Sustainable Blue Economy
Nairobi – Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forestry Aziz Akhannouch held, Monday in Nairobi, talks with European Commissioner for the Environment, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Karmenu Vella on the good prospects for a sustainable blue economy and how the oceans and fisheries sector can become a source of employment and prosperity.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the high-level conference on the blue economy, which opened in the Kenyan capital, Akhannouch also discussed with the European Commissioner ways to develop several key maritime sectors, such as renewable energy, aquaculture, tourism and marine biotechnology.
The minister took this opportunity to invite Vella to participate in the 5th edition of the Halieutis Fair scheduled on February 20-24 in Agadir, considered as a major event in the fisheries sector at the continental and regional level.
