COP22/Palestine: Morocco is First Defender of Palestinian Cause, FM

Marrakech 08/11/2016 (MAP), Morocco is the first defender of the Palestinian cause and does not need to be taught lessons by anybody concerning its unwavering commitment to this cause, said, on Tuesday in Marrakech, COP22 president Salaheddine Mezouar.

“The Kingdom is the first defender of the Palestinian cause and we are working in close collaboration with the Palestinians to serve this cause which is the cause of all Moroccans,” said Mezouar responding, during the daily press briefing, to a question on Israeli participation in the COP22.

Morocco does not need to be taught lessons by anybody concerning its unwavering commitment to denouncing and fighting Israel’s unacceptable positions, he added.

Mezouar noted that this global event, which deals with a universal issue, is organized by the UN and brings together all member states to the convention on climate change, adding that the COP22 is a UN multilateral event hosted by Morocco.

Mezouar said that Palestine is also present in this international conference, recalling that Morocco has fought for Palestine’s adherence as a UN observer member.

“We do not defend the Palestinian cause only in statements and stances,” he said, highlighting HM King Mohammed VI’s efforts as a chairman of the Al Quds Committee, in favor of Palestinians and their interests.
