Ministers of BASIC Countries Support Moroccan Presidency of COP22

Marrakech, 18/10/2016 (MAP) – Ministers of BASIC countries (Brazil, South Africa, India and China) expressed, Monday in Marrakech, their support for the Moroccan presidency of the COP22, noting that this global event is an important step in the implementation process of the Paris Agreement.

In a joint statement following the 23th Ministerial Meeting of BASIC countries on climate change, the ministers stressed the importance of the 22nd Conference of Parties (COP22) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which is “an important step in the implementation process of the Paris Agreement”.

They also renewed their commitment to work with all parties to the COP22 to reach a better understanding and greater convergence on key issues related to the implementation of the said Agreement.

The COP22 is slated for November 7-18 in the city of Marrakech.
