Culture, Key Factor to Raise Awareness of Issues Related to Climate Change (El Yazami)

Marrakesh, 09/11/2016 (MAP) – Culture can play a major role in raising awareness of issues related to climate change, said, Wednesday in Marrakech, head of the COP22 civil society pole, Driss El Yazami.

Apart from those held in the Green and the Blue Zones, many cultural activities are planned elsewhere in the city of Marrakesh, including several exhibitions, said El Yazami in a press briefing, held at Bab Ighli site, citing, for example, the exhibition which will be inaugurated next Monday by African artists, who will speak on climate and on the initiative “A photo for my planet”.

“We expect around 280 international and national networks of civil society that are present in the Green Zone, as part of the COP22,” he said.

He also noted that more than 300 African NGOs are present at this international event that primarily focuses on food security.

“I think the best gain from the COP22 for civil society is to foster the networking of African NGOs,” he stressed.
