Rabat – The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests announced that 6.6 million heads of sheep and goats, intended for slaughter on Eid al-Adha 1443, have been identified as of June 22.

In a presentation on the preparations for Eid Al Adha before the Council of Government, Sadiki said that the identification operation is free of charge for all breeders, said the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, at a press briefing after the weekly Cabinet meeting.

The transport of the sheep and goats that do not carry the specific Eid al-Adha loops on their ears will be prohibited during the period of Eid, he said.

The minister also said that the veterinary services of the Office National de Sécurité Sanitaire des Produits Alimentaires (ONSSA) have registered more than 242,000 units intended for fattening sheep and goats before the Eid-al-Adha.

As Eid draws closer, he added that the Office strengthens control and monitoring operations of the quality of water, feed, and medicines used in farms and fattening units.

Sadiki also recalled that since the beginning of the year 2022, his department has established a program of continuous monitoring of the situation of the market supply of the animals intended for slaughter and the health status of the livestock.
