Launch of Seventh Edition of Hassan II Great World Water Prize
Rabat – Morocco and the World Water Council launch the 7th edition of the Hassan II Great World Water Prize, one of the most prestigious international awards in the water sector, announced the Ministry of Equipment, Transport, Logistics and Water.
In a statement, the Ministry said that this prize organized under the general theme “Cooperation and solidarity in the fields of management and development of water resources”, will reward projects, works and initiatives that fall within the specific theme “water security in the territories for sustainable development and food security”.
The objective is to encourage efforts to strengthen the existing links between water security, food security and sustainable development, as well as to promote approaches or techniques that have provided answers to problems related to these interdependent areas, especially when they are part of a territorial dimension, according to the same source.
The prize, worth US$500,000, will be awarded at a special ceremony scheduled during the opening plenary session of the World Water Forum in March 2022 in Dakar, Senegal.
The winner will also receive a trophy and a certificate, said the Ministry.
The application procedures and additional information about the 7th edition are published on the official website of the Ministry and the World Water Council. The applications, whose form is available on line on the website: www.hassan2gwwp.org, should be submitted to the secretariat of the Hassan II Great World Water Prize before December 31, 2021.
