Renewable Energy: Morocco, Niger Maintain Important Cooperation (Nigerien Minister)

El Jadida – Morocco and Niger have an important cooperation in the field of renewable energy, said Wednesday in El Jadida, Minister of State, Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies of Niger, Ibrahim Yacouba.

Morocco has a proven experience in the development of renewable energy, while Niger has the highest potential in solar energy, said Yacouba, in a statement to MAP, on the sidelines of the exhibitions, Elec Expo, Ener Event and Tronica Expo, adding that “we will enhance these assets to strengthen this cooperation”.

In his regard, he recalled that a framework document for cooperation has been developed jointly by the ministries of both countries, with the aim of exploiting all opportunities offered by the renewable energy sector.

The Nigerien minister mentioned the technical assistance partnership with the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), which is currently being deepened, to strengthen the sharing of best practices between the two countries and the training of staff in terms of renewable energy.

Niger has a diversified, long-standing and very important cooperation with Morocco, in most sectors related to sustainable development, which makes it a fruitful bilateral partnership that is excellent and tailored to the needs of both countries, he said, noting that these links have evolved over the years to become a major aspect of cooperation for Niger.

Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this global event initiated under the theme “Electric mobility: status and opportunities” by the National Federation of Electricity, Electronics and Renewable Energy (FENELEC), brings together more than 140 exhibitors from Morocco and elsewhere.
