Sharm El-Sheikh: Morocco Takes Part in COP27

Sharm El-Sheikh – The 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) opened, Sunday in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt), with the participation of high-level delegations representing several countries, heads of government, regional and international organizations concerned with environmental and climate issues and international financial institutions.

The Conference, which will run until November 18, includes three main events: the inaugural session, the Summit of country leaders to be held on Monday, before the opening of the high-level segment of the Conference, scheduled for November 15.

Morocco, which hosted COP22 in Marrakech in 2016, has a strong presence at this global event with a high-level official delegation, a pavilion showcasing climate action by governmental, non-governmental and academic institutions, as well as expert contributions throughout the thematic sessions of the Conference.

COP27 will also be an opportunity to showcase Moroccan success stories, particularly in renewable energy projects that make Morocco a leader in the Arab and African world, and also an occasion to take further advantage of the climate finance offered.
