U.S. Pledge to Cut Half Gas Emissions by 2030

Washington – US President Joe Biden pledges to reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions at least in half by the end of 2030, according to a statement by the White House on Thursday.

Speaking at Leaders Summit on Climate via video-conference, Biden said that “the United States sets out on the road to cut greenhouses in half by the end of this decade. These steps will set America on a path of net-zero emission economy by no later than 2050,” adding that the US represents less than 15% of the world’s emissions.

He said that the world’s largest economies have to step up, take action and make bold investments in their people in clean energy future, which will win the good jobs of tomorrow and make economies more resilient and competitive.

The President also urged world leaders to take immediate action to tackle climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions around the globe.

“The science is unmistakable, the science is undeniable. And, cost of inaction keeps mounting,” he added.

During this two-day virtual Summit several prominent global leaders will express their commitment to take further steps to tackle climate change.
