4.0-Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Driouch Province

Rabat – An earthquake with a 4.0-magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded Tuesday in the province of Driouch, said the National Institute of Geophysics (ING).

The earthquake, whose epicenter is located 50 km off the coast of the commune of Oulad Amghar in the province of Driouch, occurred at 03h54min32sec (GMT+1), said the ING National Seismic Monitoring and Alarm Network in a seismic alarm bulletin.

The tremor is 14 km deep, with a latitude of 35.530 °N and a longitude of 3.648 °W, the source added.
