Electricity Output Up 3.1% by End of July 2022

Rabat – The production of electricity at the national level posted a 3.1% increase at the end of July 2022, following a 6.6% increase a year before, according to the Direction of studies and financial forecasts (DEPF) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

This figure is the result of a 26.5% increase in electricity production of the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE) and a 7.9% increase in renewable energies relating to Law 13-09, the DEPF points out in its September 2022 economic note, adding that private electricity production decreased by 3.7%.

The electricity output has improved by 3.1% at the end of July 2022, Compared to its pre-crisis level (July 2019).

Compared to last year, the volume of imported energy increased by 117.3% at the end of July 2022, while the volume of exported energy decreased by 23.9%.

With regard to the consumption of electrical energy, it increased by 4.8% between January and July 2022, after an increase of 6.2% the year before.
