‘Generation Green’ Strategy: Digitalization, Battle Horse to Modernize Agricultural Sector (Minister)

Meknes – The strategy “Generation Green” makes digitalization a battle horse to achieve the modernization of the agricultural sector, said Friday in Meknes, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki.

Speaking at a press conference held on the sidelines of the 15th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM), Sadiki highlighted the importance of digital technology in the growth of the agricultural sector. He highlighted the role of startups as an important lever for the implementation of this strategy.

According to the Minister, the establishment of a pole dedicated to startups this year is intended to encourage these companies and offer them financial and technical support. He stressed that his Department is working to involve and encourage these startups, especially through the Regional Agricultural Plans (RAP).

Referring to the novelties of the Exhibition this year, Sadiki stressed that this 15th edition brought together 15 countries and nearly 1,400 exhibitors, noting that the number of cooperatives has exceeded 1,000.

He added that the 15th edition of SIAM has seen the organization of several activities and conferences that focus on the strategy “Generation Green” and its importance for the achievement of food sovereignty.

These include a high-level conference, organized by the Ministry under the theme “Generation Green: for a sustainable food sovereignty”, the 3rd Annual Ministerial Conference of the initiative “AAA” (Adaptation of African Agriculture), as well as the signing of 19 contracts-programs of new generation for the development and modernization of agricultural production chains, with the main sectors of plant and animal production.
