Morocco: Dams Filled to 33% of Capacity (Ministry)
Rabat – The reservoirs of the Kingdom’s main dams have reached, as of March 17, 2022, more than 5.3 billion cubic meters (m3), i.e. a filling rate of about 33%, according to the Ministry of Equipment and Water.
At the same date last year, the reserves of dams have accumulated 8.22 billion m3, i.e. a filling rate of 51%, said the Ministry in a document on the daily situation of the major dams in the Kingdom.
In detail, the Alwahda dam has the largest reservoir with a volume reaching more than 1.95 billion m3 and a filling rate of 55.6%, against 78.7%, a year earlier.
The Idriss I dam comes in second place with a retention of 479.6 million m3, a filling rate of 42.5% against 75.2% at the same time last year (849.4 million m3).
With a filling rate of 65.2%, the Oued El Makhazine dam is ranked third with a retention of 438.9 million m3.
