Morocco, UN to Celebrate International Day of Argania on Tuesday
Agadir – Morocco and the United Nations will celebrate next Tuesday in Agadir the second edition of the International Day of Argania.
Celebrated this year under the theme “The argan tree, symbol of resilience,” the event will be a moment of national and international mobilization around this endemic tree and its ancestral ecosystem, a statement from the National Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan (Andzoa) said.
On this occasion, a high-level panel will be organized under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests.
It will bring together high-level speakers including the Ambassador Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations, the President of the United Nations General Assembly, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN and Chair of the UN Group on Sustainable Development and the Director-General of UNESCO.
This event will be broadcast live on the United Nations Web TV, as well as on YouTube and social networks.
On the sidelines of this event, the 6th edition of the International Congress of the Argan Tree will be launched.
The event that will run until May 13 will bring together the national and international scientific community to discuss advances in scientific research for sustainable and inclusive development of the value chain of the Argan tree.
