Ouarzazate-Noor, Far-Reaching Project In Renewable Energy, Energy Supply, EIB Vice President

Ouarzazate, 05/11/2016 (MAP), Ouarzazate-Noor is a far-reaching project in terms of renewable energy and energy supply bringing together technological innovation and sustainable development, said, on Friday in Ouarzazate, vice president of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Román Escolano.

The funding of this solar complex is a real pride for the EU bank which, along with Morocco, made climate action a top priority, said Escolano in a speech on the sidelines of a press visit to the Ouarzazate-Noor complex, noting that the Kingdom is a key partner of the EIB in the Mediterranean region.

Since 2011, 28% of EIB investment in Morocco was earmarked for climate action, which corresponds to 500 million euros out of 1.7 billion euros, he said.

On his participation in the COP22 , Escolano said that, as a privileged partner of Morocco for many years, the EIB will ink during this event a new financing agreement with the office of electricity and drinking water (ONEE) for the extension and the modernization of the purification network in small Moroccan cities.
