Rabat Zoo Ensures Animals’ Well-Being Amid Heatwave
Rabat – The Rabat Zoological Garden announced on Tuesday that it has implemented actions to ensure the well-being of its animals during the heatwave that sweeps across the region.
“Although none of the species presented at the zoo is particularly fragile, given that the animal collection has been chosen based on its ability to adapt to the climatic conditions of the country, some species need more attention,” the Rabat Zoo said in a statement.
“The living spaces of many animals are equipped with permanent water basins, shaded areas and watering troughs in sufficient quantity,” the statement read.
“Veterinary and health team is working to bring freshness to some species, by implementing a program of enrichment, based on the distribution of sorbets with pieces of fruit, vegetables, meat or fish, in order to refresh them,” the statement added.
Created in 2007, the National Zoological Garden’s mission is to conserve and protect animals and ecosystems in which they live, as well as to contribute to the safeguarding of some of the rarest or most endangered species of fauna.
