Ninth World Water Forum Postponed to 2022
Dakar – Senegal and the World Water Council have decided to postpone the 9th World Water Forum scheduled in Dakar, to March 21-26, 2022, due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The decision was taken in light of the evolution of the global Covid-19 pandemic, which has slowed down the Forum preparatory process and strained organizations into rescheduling introductory events, and in order to guarantee the best sanitary conditions for stakeholders, according to a press release, issued Tuesday by the Executive Secretariat of the 9th World Water Forum.
This international event was initially slated for March 22-27, 2021, in Dakar under the theme “Water Security for Peace and Development.”
The next Forum will be the first to be held in sub-Saharan Africa. It will provide a platform for professionals and decision-makers to respond to the priority of accelerating and expanding access to water and sanitation for all.
