Environment: Efforts Made for “Radical Transformation” of LNESP – Minister

Rabat –  Minister of Energy, Mining and the Environment, Aziz Rabbah said Friday in Rabat that efforts are being carried out to achieve “a radical transformation” of the National Laboratory for Studies and Monitoring of Pollution (LNESP), so as to consolidate Morocco’s position in the field of sustainable development and protection of the ecosystem.

In a statement to the press on the sidelines of a visit to the LNESP, Rabbah stressed the urgency of developing this institution, through the strengthening of its capacity and optimize of its actions.

The visit, which follows the accreditation of the LNESP by the Moroccan accreditation body SEMAC aims to learn about the progress of monitoring and control programs conducted by this structure and the prospects for its consolidation, with regard to national priorities in the environment.

The establishment is constantly replenished with human resources and additional means to make it a reference laboratory in the field of control, monitoring and pollution control, the minister said, adding that each year, significant investments are allocated for this purpose.

The Kingdom has chosen sustainable development, which has been achieved through the adoption of the National Charter for the Environment and Sustainable Development, the strategy of renewable energy and the national strategy for sustainable development, he said, stressing that this direction requires the development of human resources and dedicated mechanisms.
